What Can I Do to Be the Best Partner?
I recently found this group and it's been what I have been looking for.
I have been diagnosed with PTSD, clinical depression, and acute anxiety. I am also on the spectrum (Autism) and with a form of epilepsy veinous anomolies in my brain.
We are also about a week out from welcoming our first child.
I have been struggling with this change, despite wanting this for so long. My wife has been an amazing partner who is very understanding and supportive. I just know that when our son gets here our priorities will change. She and I will be prioritizing him. My conditions present certain challenges: I can't have disrupted sleep without making my seizures worse, my meds make me drowsy, and I struggle with noises. I do all I can (meds, therapy, noise cancelling headphones, etc.,) I know she won't be as available to support my needs, so I take care of myself more and more.
I don't want my ASD or seizures or depression to be the thing that ends my amazing marriage.
From partners, what can I do to support my wife, our son, and our family? What can I do to minimize additional stress on my wife and keep our home a place of support and love?
