Looking for help to figure out how much I should spend on renting. Moving to a new state for a job.

So I'm moving from Iowa to West Allis Wisconsin for a new job.

I'd be working for the city, full time, but there's 2 different hourly pay amounts. The city offers 5% more for living within the city borders.

$33/hr × 80 hrs = 2640 bi weekly / 5280 monthly

34.65/hr × 80 hrs = 2772 bi weekly / 5544 monthly

Apartments in the city are roughly $1000-1400 for a single bedroom.

Utilities would probably be 100-200 I'd guess?

I have no debt, but a $300 car payment.

I do have a opportunity to live with two roomates just outside city limits for $600 a month Utilities included.

I guess I could afford a nicer one bedroom but after taxes I'd only be able to save like $1000 monthyl maybe. Should I find some roommates for that first year, and just bank as much as I can and then maybe find a house? 31 male
