Pacing & Themes

I just finished my first book of course it has not been edited. It ended up being something I hadn’t set out to make. Which means it has an actual story to it. And that’s fine I can work with it but my question is this - it starts out hot and heavy with sex left and right. But by the middle it starts to slow down and turns into more intimate for lack of a better word.

So now I’m concerned it doesn’t fit into literary erotic necessarily and it’s not romance. Should the sexual pacing be the same through throughout?
