Real or engineered wood flooring

I have an old terraced house with wood flooring. Trouble is it’s really draughty and it costs a fortune to heat. I’m looking at getting wood/engineered wood flooring for the whole downstairs. We have German Shepherd and my husband is clumsy. What flooring do you think will look good and also survive the dog and husband? Thanks.
