‎I used to hate how messy I am as teenager.

‎I just constantly felt like I was saying the wrong thing, reacting too much, being too much and making a fool out of myself. I’d compare myself to other girls who seemed composed and in control, and every small criticism from others just confirmed it. Eventually, I started doing it to myself trying to smooth everything out, be less, be quieter, try to act composed but feeling like a imposter all the time.

‎

‎But then I saw dramas where the fl were just… unapologetically messy and a bit annoying.

‎

‎They are Awkward, impulsive, sometimes embarrassing but still dared to be themselves. They make mistakes, but don’t collapse into self pity. Yes they felt frustrated but clearly let other know instead of stewing in it. They have self respect thus keep going despite the mockery. And importantly they didn’t lose themselves. Something about this is deeply healing for me.

‎

‎It is such a shame that we don't get this kinds of character more often. Not because my taste is very specific but writing this kind of character can be really tricky.

‎They can turn into bubbly ditzes with no sense of self, stuck, pushover and orbiting the male lead like that’s their whole purpose. At least most of the old dramas did that to all of bubbly playful lead. Turned them into manic pixies without backbone.

‎

‎We know it's hard but please give us more sunshine optimistic characters who are soft but not spineless.

‎Warm but not dependent.

‎Messy but still moving with their own purpose. Because people like us
