Event help!

So I'm probably an idiot, but I figured the worst I could do was ask. I can't seem to unlock stages of the event for some reason. I got the 25k points, and it shows that checked off. But I have completed 3 missions with the orange bookmark, and gotten no progress in the event stages. Am I missing something?
