SOS

Hello Reddit community,

I am writing this from a small town in Hungary. For the past year, my family and I have been putting every single cent and every ounce of our energy into renovating a modest old house. We are doing almost everything ourselves to save money—from mixing concrete to laying bricks.

We managed to finish the walls and the foundation, but we’ve hit a financial wall. Due to the sudden and massive spike in construction material prices (wood and tiles), our budget for the roof has completely run out.

If we don't finish the roof structure and the expansion before the wet season starts, all the hard work we’ve done inside the house will be destroyed by water damage. My pride told me not to ask for help, but I realized I cannot risk our future home just to stay silent. I am keeping this anonymous from my local community and friends to avoid the social stigma in my town, but I am being 100% transparent here.

How you can help: We set up a fundraiser on 4fund (a secure and trusted platform in Europe). Because of the currency exchange, even a small donation in EUR or USD goes a very long way for us!

$5 (A "Virtual Tile"): Helps us buy a few more roof tiles.

$25 (A "Support Beam"): Helps us secure the wooden structure.

Transparency: > I will be posting photo updates of the progress directly on the 4fund page. If you have any technical advice on budget roofing, I am also happy to listen!

Thank you for taking the time to read our story. Even a "Share" or an "Upvote" helps us get visibility.
