[Burnout Thread] We spent $800/month collecting feedback manually. Here's what changed after we automated it.

I’ll be honest, our feedback collection process was a mess. Support was dumping Slack messages into a spreadsheet, product team was just picking the loudest complaints, and there was basically no structure around what actually mattered.

We were spending like 3 hours every week just organizing feedback. Not even analysing it. Just moving things around, renaming columns, fixing formats. Felt productive but it really wasn’t.

Last quarter we realised we were just optimizing for volume, not insight. People were sending feedback through email, in-app forms, support tickets… all over the place. And we had no way to actually see patterns across it.

The issue was never lack of feedback. We had more than enough. We just couldn’t connect the dots.

We tried the usual stuff first. Typeform, Google Sheets, even some Slack bots. Nothing really worked long term. Because collecting feedback wasn’t the hard part. Understanding it was.

Here’s what actually changed:

  • We centralized everything. One place where all feedback lands. No more digging through Slack threads
  • Patterns started showing up. Like “this is confusing” came up 34 times in a month. We had missed it completely before
  • Opinions reduced a lot. Once you have actual numbers, product debates become way simpler

The biggest win was time. We stopped wasting hours organizing stuff and started actually talking to users who gave detailed feedback.

One thing that surprised me, the small repeated feedback (like 5-6 people saying the same thing) turned out way more useful than one angry rant. But you just don’t see that unless you’re tracking things properly.
