Anyone else feel different from other teens our age?
Hey everyone, I'm 15 and I've been thinking a lot about how different people grow and change during these years. A lot of teens around me seem to be going through similar things...feeling sexual attraction, wanting to hang out with friends more than family, getting excited for their driver's license, and just becoming more social in general.
The guys I know are getting deeper voices or growing facial hair, and the girls seem to have mostly finished growing and are staying around the height they are now. Everyone seems focused on the future and who they're becoming.
But I've noticed that I'm not really on the same track as most of them. I don't feel sexual attraction, I don't really hang out with friends much, and I actually prefer spending my time with my family. I'm also short ("4'10") and have already stopped growing, though I'm growing facial hair like other guys my age. Lately I've been thinking a lot about my identity and what my role in the world is supposed to be.
I'm not upset about any of this...I just feel different, like I'm behind, I'm supposed to be a girl, a young woman, and I'm supposed to love boys, so why don't I? I'm wondering if anyone else around my age relates. Did you feel out of sync with your peers? Did things change for you later, or did you just stay the same?
Would love to hear other people's experience.
