(relatively) cheap record player recs that won't wear down the vinyls for a beginner?

Question

I'm looking to start getting into vinyl collecting for various reasons, but don't have a lot of budget to spare. The first thing I found recommending record players for a beginner started at like $180 (Audio Technica), far more than I would prefer to spend on something like this at this point, then recommended a few others that were more expensive. Then I just googled it and found some that looked good and were only ~$60, but I looked up the brand (Victrola) and people were saying they wear down vinyls really quickly.

So do y'all have any recommendations for record players (preferably under $100 but I'm willing to go up to $120) that won't overly damage the vinyls? I'm willing to sacrifice some sound quality for it to be non-damaging and meet the budget, as long as it doesn't sound utterly awful.
