The day I quit porn wasn't the last day I quit porn
The day I quit porn wasn't the last day I quit porn.
Years ago I had a moment where I realized I could choose to feel shame or not.
Having just returned from a 12 step meeting for porn, I had slipped within 10 mins of getting home.
It was confusing because I was feeling so good from the meeting. I was so confident I was winning the battle so to speak.
In the moments afterwards I sat there and I though "Oh @#$@#$ I'm going to have to feel like sh*t again"
It felt like a freight train bearing down on me. The guilt and shame was heading my way to crush me.
In a split second I realized I didn't need to feel bad about this. I realized I ddin't need to feel shame or regret or anything really.
I realized I could choose how i wanted to feel. and in a split second I side stepped the shame train and let it past.
That moment was revolutionary for me. It was the moment that the seed was planted that I had more control over my thoughts and emotions than I knew.
I didn't stop that day, I'd have to learn many more lessons but that was the day I quit porn.
That was the day it all started.
It took longer than I thought or wanted. There were many more painful lessons to learn.
But in the end, the seed grew and I learned how to stop watching porn.
Now I help guys do the same except in a much much shorter time than it took me.
Weeks instead of years.
