Received "Verbal" Offer for a Regional Service Tech IT job, but "final approvals" still need to be made?

Just got off another interview with a company that I had interviewed with before. Initially, they had rejected me, but a few days ago they sent me an email asking me if I was interested in a role that was just about to open up. I told them I was, which led to the interview I just had. In this interview, they told me about the role and whether I was still interested in it (basically expounding what was said in the email). The interviewer told me that they were very interested in hiring me, but that they needed to go through a gauntlet of approvals. 3 people need to approve me as a hire (1 of which has already signed off on me). This kind of worries me as I am all too familiar with the stories of people who were at the cusp of a new job, but ended up being screwed over right at the end (offer rescinded, job closed). I am kind of worried that the same might happen to me.
