bike progression to a yamaha tracer 9 gt

so i'm completely new to bikes though did do some research, what i want eventually is the bike in the title; of course i'm not gonna get it immediately because for one, it's quite expensive, for two it's a 890cc; so i'm probably gonna start at the ninja 300 just because i seen that that's a good beginner bike but from there i feel it's a bit of a leap directly to the yamaha so how should i fill up that space between; should i go for lower cc tourers or somethin else

(this is all subject to change considering i haven't even stepped on a bike yet)
