Is light bleed in an ereader frontlight harmful to the eyes in the long term?
First, I understand that most ereaders have some small amount of "light bleed" due to the way the frontlight is designed. I get that this is normal, and usually it's not very noticeable unless you REALLY look for it. So it's not an issue.
But what if an ereader frontlight has a very noticeable light bleed?
See, I have this dilemma. I've been looking for an new ereader for a while now, and I found one that's almost PERFECT and seems like it has everything that I need. It's the Musnap Ocean (rebranded iReader Ocean5Pro). You may have heard about it in this sub. It's 7”, recessed screen, Carta 1300, Android, and apparently good build quality and battery life? Omfg, it looks like a dream come true.
BUT now here's the issue, it also has a frontlight that has a VERY noticeable light bleed on one side of the screen.
Here are some photos of it (these photos are from other people of course): https://imgur.com/a/4VOTlId
As you can see, there's a very noticeable light bleed on one side of the screen. I'm worried it'll bother me but also (please correct me if I'm wrong) wouldn't it be harmful to my eyes in the long term? Since the light leaking seems too much. I mean, it looks like the light it's not only reflecting to the screen, but also to the eyes. It'll be like looking at a lamp directly while reading, no?
Anyways, sorry if this sounds dumb, and although I kinda understand how the frontlight works, I admit I'm not an expert on the topic. Would like to hear your thoughts.
