Nolan is far more brutal than people give him credit for

SpoilerDISCUSSION

I keep seeing people online talking about how Nolan was empathetic from the start, and his betrayal of the empire was inevitable. But honestly I think he is far more brutal than people realize, I'm thinking the 3rd worst out of the Viltrimites (behind Thragg and Conquest).

It takes a matter of months for the other Viltrimites to outright refuse to conquer earth, because they have their own children and feel attached to the earth people. And that was whilst Thragg was actively monitoring their progress.

Nolan, spent decades on earth (without Thragg keeping him on mission). And he still decided to murder 1,000s of civilians and almost kill his son.

Yes he did turn in the end, but honestly his commitment to the Viltrim empire (when compared to the other Viltrimites) was unparalleled, and I'm confused by people saying "oh Nolans betrayal was foreshadowed in his flashbacks". When if anything the opposite is true.

Am I alone in this line of thought, or has anyone else noticed this?
