Why do electronics seem to malfunction specifically when *I* use them? Am I just extremely unlucky?
Throwaway account because for some reason I'm embarrassed to ask this question.
For most of my life, I have had a recurring issue where electronics malfunction or sometimes totally fry when I interact with them. It has happened enough times at this point to become a noticeable pattern, but I'm assuming that there has to be a normal explanation.
Because I spent so much of my childhood with a "static thumb," I actually made it a point to become pretty tech literate. I am comfortable troubleshooting device problems and even taught myself webdev, partly because I was constantly encountering tech issues. Alas, the problem persists. At this point, I'm pretty confident that this isn't just me pressing the wrong buttons or doing something obviously incorrect/damaging.
Here are a couple of examples that I remember the most clearly:
-
When I was about 11 years old, I went over to the tech section of a Walmart to play with their WII U demo. I picked up the controller, pressed the "A" button, and the entire demo display bluescreened. When I went to the attendant desk to confess my crime, he told me that it couldn't have been my fault.

Every phone I have owned has had issues booting when I power it on. Around 40% of the time the phone will throw some kind of error screen, or boot into recovery mode -- I have unintentionally discovered the recovery mode on three different generations of iPhone, a Samsung Galaxy S3, and most recently a Nothing Phone 2, where I managed to cause an operating system error simply by turning it on. I have been so careful about following the proper steps, and I've had other people (including an Apple Store repair guy) watch me do it to confirm that I am not doing anything wrong. When other people follow the same steps to power on the same phones, they don't run into these issues.

I just recently added a second monitor to my computer setup. After configuring all of my display settings (and touching NOTHING else) and then restarting my computer, it booted into rescue mode because the operating system had somehow become corrupted. After about 15 minutes of headache to completely fix my OS and verify everything was working as intended, I rebooted again only to find that my second monitor --which had been working fine until now--suddenly had its backlight fail and was now unusable.
Over the years I have had so many speakers, TVs, radios, etc stop working right when I interact with them. I have had multiple people watch me break something, and then immediately replicate my action and have it work perfectly. When I passingly mentioned this to my parents a few years ago, their response was "oh yeah, you and [younger sister] have always had terrible luck with electronics."
I'm fully aware that this could just be bad luck, crazy coincidence, or confirmation bias. At this point though, I feel like it's happened enough times for me to at least ask.
Is there any real explanation for this kind of pattern? Could something like grounding issues or static discharge, for example, be the cause of my "static thumb?" Has anyone else experienced their presence being weirdly damaging to electronics, or am I just cursed?
