13 years of praying for answers
Hi, Im sorry but this is a bit of a rant mixed with looking for any advice that can help me.
So I've been on the gynecology wait list for 6 months now for suspected endometriosis, since that initial appointment my symptoms have worsened and started to effect my bladder. I've always had bad periods and was always told it was normal as "being a woman isn't easy". For 13 years I've been on every pill, depos, 2 coils that my body rejected, yet nothing ever helped. After my recent coil expelling again they told me that it wasn't normal for a coil to expel after a few years never mind 2 and made a referral to gyno, as my symptoms have worsened I've asked my gp to see if it can be 'fast tracked' as I'm near enough housebound now, chronic fatigue that literally wipes the floor with me, pain that is worse then labour, unable to do things with my children and need access to a toilet at all times. My gp refused, a few months pass and I decided my mental health couldn't cope with it anymore and I rang my gyno department to ask if everything had gone though and they replied with" yep we have you right here but patience is needed", i burst into tears and asked if there was any way I could be added to the cancellation list to which she replied" no and that its atleast a year before my name even reaches the top of the list" to even speak to someone never mind any help as to what's going on, I asked is it best to go private then or go back to my gp to see if there was anything I could have to help my symptoms she flat out replied that I just needed to be "patient" and hung up. After being brought up with family who were nurses I understood that I needed patience but ive been begging everyone for 13 years, countless trips to a&e, gp, gyno and then referred to gastro for ibs and hypersensitivity. I decided that I needed to book in for a private ultrasound and had my appointment the next day. Within the first 5 minutes I felt like someone finally believed me, they had found I had a bulky uterus, static ("sticky") ovary and adenomyosis and she personally believes i have endometriosis too. I cried the second she told me, I felt a mix of emotions and felt like I was at the first step of a very long road but i wasn't crazy and it wasn't "normal". Ive told my gp and they seem really hesitant to take it seriously. Im really confused, where do I go next? How do I get people to understand?
I've told some family and they literally just said so you get bad periods🤷♀️ how do I explain this is taking over my life without sounding dramatic?
