Life is strange.

Need Advice

It’s 4:10 AM on a Saturday and I was doomscrolling YouTube Shorts. I came across a sponsorship video of a dad and his two sons playing Rocket League. They looked like they were having a really good time, and the dad was even teaching them life lessons. Their YouTube channel is called Sidechopper, if you want to check them out.

Long story short, it made me realize something about myself.

I think part of what I really want in life is to become a father one day. But I’m 18, and I know I need to focus on my life first—my studies, my future, building stability. Still, when I ask myself, “Where could I possibly find peace?” I get confused.

I used to think I could find it in things like lust or instant pleasure, but honestly, it doesn’t bring peace. It just makes things more complicated and worse over time. I don’t really notice it immediately, but eventually life feels heavier.

Seeing that video made me think that maybe having a family, having a son or daughter, could bring a different kind of peace. But as an 18-year-old, that feels far away. Maybe it’s just something I can only think about for now.

Growing up isn’t really about life suddenly becoming peaceful. It’s more about trying to find a way to build that peace yourself while dealing with responsibilities and challenges. And honestly, that part feels difficult.

But I guess the real question I need to ask myself is this:

How do I actually get there?
