I am childish because I'm feeling bad about my situationship not answering to my messages?
I'm studying in the afternoons and the guy I'm seeing wanted to come visit me. So far, so good.
We had agreed to meet at 5:00 PM at a McDonald's near where I study, just to grab something quick during my break.
When 5:00 came, I texted him to let him know I was on my way and to ask how he was doing.
He didn't reply, but I figured he was probably heading over too, so I didn't think much of it.
A couple of minutes later, he called me to ask if, instead of going to the place we'd agreed on, I could find a McDonald's closer to a different area because he had to go somewhere else afterward. I said sure, no problem, and started looking.
I found one in under a minute. While we were still on the call, I was about to tell him, but I noticed he'd hung up. I thought, "okay, no big deal," and sent it to him by text instead.
The problem was what came after: he didn't reply, didn't read my messages, didn't answer my calls. And I wasn't trying to control him or anything like that, I just genuinely didn't know whether we were still meeting at the original place or the new one he'd asked me to find.
I just wanted a confirmation so neither of us would waste time.
In the end, I went to the first location we'd agreed on. He was supposed to arrive around 5:15, but 5:30 came and I still hadn't heard anything.
At that point I opened a game we both play sometimes and saw that he was online and playing. That's when it clicked, he had his phone on "do not disturb" while gaming. And honestly, that didn't sit well with me.
Not because he was playing, but because: he asked me to find a different location, I did it immediately, he hung up on me, and then left me completely in the dark without confirming anything.
Around 5:35 he called me, he'd finished his game. He asked where I was. I explained I was at the original spot and asked if we were still going to the other place, since he'd never gotten back to me. He said no, he'd just come to wherever I was.
So I simply told him that I'd felt hurt by how he'd handled the situation, he'd asked me to do something and then left me without a response. I wasn't starting a fight; I just wanted to express how it had made me feel so it wouldn't happen again.
But he got defensive and told me I was having a "little girl attitude." That made me feel even worse, because I ended up thinking it was maybe my fault for feeling that way, especially since he had, after all, wanted to come see me.
I even ended up apologizing to him for having felt bad. And his response was: "I came because I wanted to see you, but with this attitude it makes me not want to bother."
So now I'm asking myself: is it really childish to feel hurt because someone ignored me after asking me to do something that took me less than a minute?
