Are you not able to upgrade attributes for Icons and real players in career mode for FC 26

I was playing career mode with both Sophia Wilson and Icon Alex Morgan but when I was playing, there was no section that I could find in the menu to add attribute points to make them better. Are you not able to upgrade attributes for Real players or Icons and is it only available if you create a player from scratch? Any help would be great, thanks.
