iPhone 14 not giving text notifications sound unless message app is open.

When I receive text messages, I dont get a sound notification at all. No banners are showing on the lock screen either. The only indication I have is the red badge on the Messages app showing I have unread messages. If I’m actively inside the Messages app, I’ll hear the sound when a new message comes in But if my phone is locked or I’m using another app, I get no sound and no banner notification.

Do Not Disturb / Focus modes are off

I’ve already checked notification settings and everything appears to be turned on.

Can anyone help me find a solution?
