[Rewatch] Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya - Interest Post
Gauging interest for a rewatch of Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya (aka PrIllya) seasons 1-3, plus 2 OVAs. The start date would be Friday, May 15th with daily threads going live at 4:00pm CDT (32 episode threads, 3 season threads, 1 series thread), concluding June 19th.
Rewatch? What’s that?
Think of it like a sort of anime book club. Rewatch participants post their thoughts, analyses, predictions, jokes, memes, and/or reactions, as well as discuss events and/or themes with other rewatchers. There will be one daily thread per episode, plus 3 season discussions, and a series discussion at the end.
Spoiler tags must be used when referring to events that have not occurred in the story, as well as when discussing how events in the show may relate to specific events in other Fate stories, eg. [Fate/Stay Night] >!Beware CGI dragons!<. To get spoilers to appear like this, write them out like so: [Fate/Stay Night] >!Beware CGI dragons!<. Be extra cautious about name-dropping characters before they’re revealed!
I will have a Question(s) of the Day segment prepared for each episode. There will also be a recurring segment wherein you, dear reader, explore your thoughts about the artistic intent and merit of a particular screenshot aptly entitled The Writing Prompt. There’s no “wrong” way to respond, so get creative! Get weird! Have fun! Example below:
The above frame, depicting a maid outfit clad twin-tailed girl crashing through a second story window, is an artistic representation of the lengths a host will go to in order to recruit rewatchers!
Participation in these segments is optional, but encouraged. I will feature one question answer and one prompt response from the previous day in each new thread.
I see. Why should I watch this?
The Fate rabbit hole is about as close as it gets to bottomless, its labyrinthian depths twist and gnarl in an endlessly expanding, constantly looping network.
Fortunately, PrIllya doesn’t actually require any background to jump in. This is a magical girl show through and through, blended with the aesthetics of Fate. It works rather well; the magical girl staples of friendship, henshin, and shameless fanservice integrate seamlessly with Fate’s convoluted magic systems, epic struggles, and shameless fanservice.
I will use my knowledge of the Fate franchise to (hopefully) add some value to this rewatch.
Cool! How do I watch this?
Unfortunately, no site currently streams this anime, or at least, not in the US.
Watch the sub, the dub isn’t very good.
Wait, wheres 3rei?
To be concise, these posts don’t write themselves and the passion isn’t there.
To elaborate, season 4 and beyond of Prisma Illya is basically a completely different show, one plagued with pacing issues, and it struggles to prop up an increasingly esoteric story as a result.
I’m not actively looking for a co-host, but if someone does want the role, I’ll pass the torch after season 3.
