[M4F] Small Town Detective Mystery | Long term, Noir, Crime, Slow Burn, Enemies to Lovers

NSFW

Hey! I have been sitting on this for a while and finally decided to pull the trigger and write this post. It's about a small town detective story with a slow burn enemies to lovers dynamic between the two detectives solving the case. You have to be 21+.

The general vibe I have in mind is somewhere along the lines of Mindhunter, True Detective, and Silent Hill. Obviously not a direct copy of any of them but the overall atmosphere of something that haunts a person rather than simply scaring them. Strange cases, uncomfortable questions. people who usually know more than they let on slowly evolving into something much deeper, and more personal.

The basic setup I have is simple and very open. My character would be an agent from Atlanta who willingly transfers or moves to a small town to investigate a crime. Once he arrives, he gets assigned a partner from the local sheriff's office to help with the case. This is where you come in.

I really want us to build this story together, I feel like if I just designed it myself I take away my partner's agency and it is as if I want it to go a certain way instead of a collaborative joint effort. As a result, I do not have a fully locked plot, and I am not looking to force your character into a narrow role. I want you to have the freedom to decide who she is, what her history is, how she fits into the town, what she knows, what she hides and what kind of dynamic exists between our characters. It is ENTIRELY up to you.

The enemies to lovers part is something that I am quite new to if I am being honest. I would love to develop slowly and naturally without the instant romance. I would like friction, distrust, arguments, reluctant cooperation, quiet moments and eventually when the scene and story progresses enough maybe even the quiet feeling of realizing that the person they should not want may be the only one they can actually trust?

A bit more about me:
- I am 25 and work usually around an EST schedule, my schedule is usually consistent and in case of any hiccups I will definitely let you know before time. I think its fair to say that I expect some degree of consistency and communication from you as well.
- I usually write in third person and I am not picky at all about your writing style and preferences and can adapt as well. Just be free and write as you want!
- I love OOC chatter, it is actually quite important for me, I feel like it would go a long way towards collaboration.
- I love good movies and videogames and can talk about practically anything you want.

I will be concluding here slowly since this is getting too long. Since this is a collaborative long term effort it will require consistency so please please consider your schedule and availability. Again, I understand completely that life happens and we all need some time, so just let me know and I will be happy to pick up where we left once you're back! No pressure.

Just so I know you read through this all the way to the end and this is a mystery story after all the pass is the answer to this riddle:

"I speak without a mouth and answer without a mind.
The farther you send me, the weaker I become."

Go on detective, figure it out and start your DM with the answer. I would also love to know more about you, your ideas, expectations, platform preferences and anything else you would like to share! Thanks!
