Newly bike commuting

I’m in the process of picking an e bike to commute with and run errands with, I’m wondering what accessories (besides a helmet obviously) others have found helpful when rolling around our rainy city? Any tips to increase the safety of my commute (mostly on the Burke Gilman) or riding in the streets of Seattle?
