how do different people perceive love?

:general: Serious Discussion

Hello everyone, I'm new to the sub but wanted to ask a question i had for a very long time. How do people see love? Usually, when you think of love its something magical or even fanticy like. But during my life never really saw a good example of what you see in movies or TV shows. What I usually see is people using the excuse of "love" or "marriage" to get with someone for something they have. For example, I've seen girls get with guys that treat them like shit, and they complained to me constantly about their shitty bf's and when i tell them to just leave, they look at me like i got a 3rd head, the only reason i can assume they still togehteer is cuz he got a bit of moneu but even still you really want to throw away your diginty and time just for money?. I'm I the crazy one to believe this in love in this generation. To me, it just seems like a lot of people hating and using each other for their own personal gain. i wanna believe that fairy tale love still exists, but it's getting harder and harder to believe that, especially from observing all the manipulative and plotting individuals I've met throughout my life. But I just wanna know whether the type of love you can open up to another, they see your flaws and still accept you, still exists, or is that type of love just nonexistent in this generation? idk sorry for the long paragraph, I'm just trying to find any hope that true unconditional love still exists or has ever existed because to me, what I see throughout my entire life, I've never seen true love, just people using each other for some sort o gain
