Is greeting neighbours worth it?

Rent/Housing

I’m 19, a uni student, living off campus. I moved out almost right after 18. But ever since then, I didn’t talk to neighbours since I was assuming they want to be left alone.

I moved again. But now, since I’m closer to carleton, there’s a lot more young people my age living here. Heck, the people literally next door to me, 4m away, are all kids my age.

I’m no extrovert, the furthest I’d go is like next door. But is that worth it? I’m scared because I don’t wanna be seen as a creep(it’s easy to be seen as that nowadays just by starting conversations with people), or seen as unwanted noise when people just want to stay in their bubbles. And I do get it, I work and I go to uni, and right after I moved out I was working full time, so I’ll understand if people don’t wanna talk.

But even then id be satisfied if I’m at least acquainted with my neighbours, not friends or anything but as long as we know each other exists

Is it even worth the risk? I’m just scared of what people will think especially since people are judgemental
