Was she into me?

My friend, who we’ll call Rebecca, has a boyfriend. Rebecca also has a close friend named Ella. Ella revealed to Rebecca that she had feelings for her, and Rebecca told her that she noticed there was a more than platonic vibe there, and that she was confused about her feelings (because she has a boyfriend).

Rebecca told me about all of this going on, and I was there to support her and listen to her. I am a lesbian, so everything she was telling me about - I have had a lot of similar experiences, so I was able to especially be there for her because of that. When she brings up Ella and their relationship, I sometimes joke about “taking Ella off of her hands”, considering Rebecca has a boyfriend, and still wants to keep the friendship dynamic with Ella. Rebecca laughs when I make jokes about being attracted to her friend Ella.

I find out that I am invited to an event on Friday, and I tell my friend Rebecca about my weekend plans. She tells me Ella will probably be there (because they’re friends so of course Rebecca knows. So naturally, I get excited to meet Ella who Rebecca has been telling me all about. I never planned on doing anything malicious - and I’m not trying to make excuses - but I am taking antidepressants while drinking - and I was already drunk while I arrived to the event.

Ella was there right when I got to the event. I made her stand up to give me a hug, and she goes, “you’re Rebecca’s friend, right?” And I was just like, “yesss Will I see you inside the venue” and she kind of smirked and said, “yeah I’ll see you in there”. Once we get in there, I look for her. Once I find her, I have her sit down with me on the couch so she can “tell me why Rebecca likes her so much” (essentially tell me about yourself)

We are sitting close together on the couch, I’m telling her, “I see why Rebecca likes you so much”, and “you guys are so similar”. And she kind of covers her face with her hands and talks about how Rebecca has a boyfriend. I would reply back with something like “Well I don’t have a boyfriend”… she would giggle and be like “omg nooo stopp” in a flirtatious tone when I’d flirt. I’d ask her if I was her type and she’d say “well you’re beautiful”. When id flirt with her and she’d be kind of nervous, I’d say “fine I’ll stop”, and she’d giggle, lean in, and touch me. We went into the bathroom together, but her random friend ended up following Ella and I into the stall. I keep on flirting with her, I see her giggling and being touchy back so I assume that’s why I continued, because even when I’m drunk I can read body language. I end up seeing something on her phone and wanting to see the phone, she tries to pull it away, still giggling, and I lightly push her against the wall. We’re standing so close together and she just looks at me while smiling. After this we take mirror pictures together, and her friend takes pictures of us together in the bathroom. When Ellie and I were with our own friends, we’d always keep catching each others eye on the dance floor and smirking. When I’d be looking at her, I could see her scanning the room for me, and when we’d lock eyes she’d smirk and hold eye contact for a second before looking away. Also, we took a selfie and I was kissing her on the cheek, and sent it to Rebecca and she deleted the picture before Rebecca saw it and later that night I told Rebecca ab the deleted pic.

Later in the night, I say to her “does that mean I have no chance” (seeing if she was into me or not) and she replies with “I didn’t say that”. Later that night I call Rebecca and tell her all about my night with Ella. Every last detail of what I shared here. I was still drunk. Rebecca then confesses to me that she actually probably has real feelings for Ella. We look through pictures of Ella and I commented on how good she looks and Rebecca seems fully sure at this point that she is attracted to, and has more than platonic feelings towards Ella - who, recently, their friendship dynamic has changed a bit since Ella confessed her feelings towards Rebecca who has a boyfriend.

Rebecca has expressed to me she wouldn’t be mad if I flirted with Ella because Rebecca has a boyfriend and Rebecca says that, “Ella is her own person I can’t control her”. Even though now I know she’d probably still be a little upset.

The next day, Saturday, me, Rebecca and Ella hangout together. We are sharing food and I offer a piece to Ella. She doesn’t put her hand out and so I feed it to her and she looks at me and sticks her tounge out as she’s eating it..

Also Ella has been liking all of the stories I’ve posted on Instagram since we’ve met and been following eachother.
