After months of development, I'm finally ready to talk about Not Today: Homeless Survival, a gritty urban survival game where you play as someone who has 30 days to scrape together enough money for shelter before a deadly winter storm makes the streets uninhabitable. The core loop is about balance, not just money. You're managing Hunger, Hygiene, Morale, and Health simultaneously. Let one slip and the others start to cascade. The city isn't neutral either, NPCs react to how you look and act. Show up dirty and desperate, and people cross the street. Keep yourself together, and you might just hustle a decent living. The moral dilemma is real. You can beg, dumpster dive, collect scrap, or busk with a guitar. Or you can pickpocket, break into cars, mug people. The faster path is always darker and always riskier. Get caught and lose everything. Starting over on day 18 with zero savings hits different. A few things that shaped the design:

* Night Card system: every morning you pick a card that brings a small twist to your day. Could go your way, could make things harder. A quiet little mechanic that keeps each run feeling different.
* Reactive NPCs: Your appearance, hygiene and behavior determine how the city treats you
* Perk tree built around playstyle: go full honest grinder or lean into the shadows
* 30-day countdown with a dynamic weather system that gets harsher each day

Transparency note: Generative AI tools were used during development to assist with audio and visual asset creation. No AI content is generated or used during gameplay.

If you've ever wondered what it actually feels like to navigate a city with nothing in your pocket, this game tries to capture that. Drop your questions below. We'd love to hear your thoughts.
