Enhanced review outcome

Universal Credit

Hi everyone, I am single mom with one child . I just wanted to share my experience as I’ve recently been through an enhanced review and I know how stressful and worrying it can feel.

For the last two months, I’ve honestly been very anxious not knowing what the outcome would be. It started with an initial phone call where I was asked a lot of questions about my situation, including my housing, how I pay my rent, my work and salary, my childcare arrangements, who looks after my daughter, and even whether I had been on holiday.

After that call, I provided everything they asked for. This included my current and previous tenancy arrangements, details of my previous childcare provider, bank statements, and my tenancy agreement. I was also asked to provide photos of the inside and outside of my property, as well as GP letters. They asked for permission to contact my landlord, which I agreed to.

After submitting everything, I was told last week that they had contacted my childcare provider. I expected that they would also contact my landlord and possibly arrange another call to go through my bank statements, as my account looks quite busy with money transfers from my mum. However, those transfers are simply for everyday expenses like food and essentials, and I was fully prepared to explain every transaction if needed but no further phone call.

Today, I received a message confirming that no further action is needed and that my review is complete.

The relief I feel is huge. The anxiety over the past weeks has been overwhelming, constantly checking my documents and making sure I could explain everything just in case. I just want to say that from the beginning, the agent handling my case was really kind and understanding, which did help during such a stressful time.

If you’re currently going through something similar, I completely understand how you feel. Just make sure to provide everything they ask for and be honest. Hopefully this gives someone a bit of reassurance.
