I Haven’t done a self assessment for 4 years.

I made a Self Employed account in late 2022 because i got a job with someone who was also self employed. It only lasted 3 months and i would get pay checks from the company we worked with and they would do the tax.

After I left this job I wasn’t told about tax returns or told to close my account and now that I am starting to make money online I have signed back in to this account to be greeted with a £2800 bill for not filling any self assessments. I haven’t made a penny self employed since then (January 2023).

Would I be able to appeal or will I just have to bite the bullet, I can’t afford it atm but I need to clear this to be able to continue with my online business.
