I can't understand my crush , GIRLS HELP ME

So I am completely head over heels for this girl who is a very close friend. I asked her out sometime ago, and she didn’t want to be in a relationship. I asked her why, and she said that she wasn’t romantically interested, and I was like okay, we’ll stay close friends (cliché, I know).

Now the problem is that when I asked her out, I liked her but not LIKED her. Now I do, and it’s getting annoying. Recently, I got to know that she has trauma from a guy who rejected her, and she doesn’t want anything right now.

At first, I thought she was telling me this just to make it softer for me, but it’s kind of the opposite—she is interested, but she isn’t ready right now (another cliché), and she wants me to move on (fair enough) and not wait for her. She laughs when I flirt with her, and it’s just beautiful.

Now, knowing that she is interested and wants to but can’t, I have no fucking idea what to assume and what not. I understand about the trauma, but the whole thing has me just confused, because now I am just so in love with her and can’t get her out of my head.

So now I’m stuck wondering: should I try harder to move on, or should I wait for a while and see if things change?
