ChatGPT for understanding Measure 3-632
In an effort to understand the argumentes and impacts of measure 3-632, I went to ChatGPT and started asking questions. While I am never excited to contribute to the AI mess, it was really helpful.
I asked questions like:
How likely is city redevelopment in cities requiring a vote for urban renewal?
What effect does measure 3-632 have on town center development in Wilsonville?
What effect will this have on affordability in Wilsonville?
How does this effect (insert group) currently living in Wilsonville vs those moving into the city? Groups could be seniors, young adults, current homeowners.
The responses helped me better understand what urban renewal districts do, what this measure will do, and which groups of people it helps/hurts.
Spoiler: the responses I got says that while it give democratic control to voters, it will slow growth/development, reduces affordable housing opportunities, and benefits current homeowners who don’t want change. It doesn’t benefit anyone who doesn’t own a home or wants to downsize or anyone who wants a new town center development in the next 15 years. However depending on your questions, you may find something different.
