I (27F) need some early dating advice about a guy (25M) I'm talking to.
Hi everyone,
I could use some honest outside perspectives.
I (F, 27) recently started talking to a guy I met on Hinge. The conversations are good, he seems genuinely interested, and we have a first date planned (he’s even willing to travel ~1.5 hours to see me).
Here’s where I’m struggling..
I tend to date in a more “focused” way when I like someone, I naturally stop talking to others and want to see where it goes with that one person. It just feels more genuine to me and I simply don't have the energy to entertain multiple people.
However, I’ve noticed he’s still active (following new women on Instagram, likely from dating apps), and his texting style is a bit more relaxed/short. Rationally, I know this is normal early-stage dating behavior, but emotionally it makes me feel like I’m more invested than he is, I’m not “enough” to hold his full attention or that he’s still shopping around.
At the same time, he is making effort (planned a date, engages in conversation, shows interest and gives compliments)
So I’m stuck between “this is just how modern dating works, don’t overthink it and go with the flow” vs “our dating styles might be a mismatch"
My question is: Am I overthinking normal early-stage behavior or is this actually a sign that he is not really interested and wants to keep his options open.
Curious how others handle this especially if you also prefer focusing on one person at a time. Am I self-sabotaging something that could potentially turn out something amazing?
Thanks!
