I need some advice

Discussion

This will seem like a joke post but it is a situation that I am genuinely struggling with.

I started playing Five Nights At Freddy's back in 2022, where I started with the first game in the hopes of playing through the main franchise myself. I know a bit but not much of the lore, and my friend is always trying to talk to me about it because I have shown how much I love FNaF, but I want to try learn the lore myself through playing the games.

I am bad with horror, truly bad. In the past 4 years, I have managed to make my way to night 2 of FNaF 3. Only completing nights 1-5 in the first two games. And I haven't been forgetting to play them, I always want to put the games on and make progress but I always put it off because of how scared I am. It was an amazing achievement when I managed to make my way through FNaF 2 night 5 last summer. I thought that was the largest road block gone, but the atmoshpere of FNaF 3 is 100x scarier and I only managed to get through the first night before falling back into my cave of fear.

When I play the games, I never have the volume on because of how scary the sounds and jumpscares are. That leads to the next issue, how on earth will I ever play FNaF 4? The whole purpose of that game is using audio cues, and not only that but it is widely considered the scariest FNaF game in itself. It seems like a losing battle I am trying to fight. And I refuse to skip any of the games.

My favourite FNaF game is FNAF World, which I got almost all trophies in before getting a new PC and losing my save file. Even then, Foxy.exe puts me on edge and it's quite jarring when you are suddenly chucked into battle while trying to explore the map.

I guess the whole point of this post is to see if anyone has struggled with anything similar, and if there are any good ways I can get through the games with more confidence and more attention paid to how good they are rather than how scary they are.
