Medication switch ups?

Medication & Side Effects

I’m 28 and have been on adderall (the off brand) 15mg 2x a day for about 3-4ish years now. They are instant release, and I take them both in the morning. I have really tried my best not to take it every day, and I rarely do on weekends, but lately, I’ve needed it almost every week day. I’m at the point now where that nice focus feeling is only lasting about 2 hours, maybe less. I can still ‘feel’ the addy, as in I’m not really myself, no food sounds good (I still get hungry), and I can have trouble falling asleep sometimes, but not all the time.

I’m worried to talk to my doctor about this because I’ve been passed around to 3-4 different doctors after my favorite primary care physician left, and I’ve had to basically sell my need for the adderall to my new doctor. He asked if I truly take it every day because I’m prescribed 60 a month, and I said yes, because I was afraid if I didn’t, he would lower my dose or the amount that I get and I’ve been needing them more often than not these days. The state I live in considers adderall a controlled substance and it was extremely difficult to get it prescribed to me in the first place, so I’m worried to say anything about it for fear of losing it completely. I just got promoted to executive director of my company which is amazing and I’ve worked so hard to get here, but I’m worried now that I need my medication more than ever and it’s not working the same for me.

Does anyone have any advice or have been through something similar?
