abyss 4 whiteout

I am stuck in the area of abyss 4 level 5 where there are two saplings. I cant get past the wind or make the trees grow to block the wind, and i tried once before but a hook also doesn't work. How do i get the trees to grow if hat is what I am supposed to do.
I'm frozen and ready to die
