Annoying moochers when dining out.
I have observed the following dining behaviors from in laws while out dining.
Faux Pas Number #1 when our father was alive, he would pay for our meals when we went out to celebrate one of our birthdays. My father was a farm worker who made less than everyone else at the table. Keeping this in mind, we, his children, would order the most affordable plate. My sister's husband would almost always order steak. I found that to be so disrespectful. He would get the biggest plate and eat like he was the one being celebrated. He made a lot more money than my dad. How clueless of him. It always bothered me.
Faux Pas Number #2 when we would take out my step daughter for a casual dinner she would invite her lazy gamer boyfriend. It was a casual meal, not a celebration and he would also order steak while the rest of us had smaller meals. We were polite and never said anything but that really got on my nerves. He once ordered steak and lobster at Sizzlers while everyone else had the salad. I cannot stand that guy and this is one of the reasons.
I believe that when you invite someone, you do not put limits on them but you expect that they be considerate. I personally always order the smallest plate when someone invites me even if it is work, I still order the cheapest plate.
