Healthcare path or career change?
Hi 23(F) recently graduated as a pharm d student and was slapped in the face at the very minimal job opportunities i found open up in my direction in my country. The main options were or at least what most of my classmates pursued :
Work as a community pharmacist ( barely pays anything not stable and draining af most pharmacies need u to work 6 days a week )
Go into residency and become a clinical pharmacist
Become a medical representative in a pharmaceutical company (which is the only job available as entry level if u’re interested to become anything higher in the pharma industry world which ok i understand but the problem there’s no guarantee when u get promoted or how long it takes for u to get promoted and change positions and med rep simply is not it, it’s literal hell u face rude drs everyday and it’s mentally exhausting bcz u’re basically working in sales when u studied more than to just be a sales person. Working in sales makes me feel like i can throw my 5 yrs of pharmacy down the drain bcz anyone can do that u dont need a pharma degree for it)
Anyways and lastly : Masters
I’ve been considering masters a lot but i just i’m not sure what masters to do bcz I’ve received a lot of advice that don’t go into a masters degree to get the job get a job and find the masters that suits u depending on what position u want to have moving forward.
Which yes absolutely makes sense but i’m at a point where i’m hating my degree more and more everyday i literally feel so trapped and i don’t want to live the rest of my life working in something i do not like. That’s why i want to pursue my masters bcz i am seriously considering a career shift. I was considering either MiM , marketing or MBA. I find myself being more interested in working in marketing specifically with beauty and skin care brands but i’m not sure. I know that i need to work and find out what i like and what not but i can’t find any opportunities and most of the internships that i find very interesting and align with my needs don’t take graduates they need u to be enrolled as a masters student so like hehe fml (which i would totally prefer to be an intern rather than becoming an employee just to be able to learn and grow and figure out if this is what i want or not)
Anyways if u have any advice on anything i would be very grateful. Also if u are or have been in the same situation what did u end up doing and what type of job did u pursue and is there a way for me to intern or land a job with a big beauty brand like charlotte tilbury, huda beauty , etc with my current degree or not possible?
