Need Housing Recommendations!

My husband and I are planning to move into the area this summer! He just got a job in Detroit, and from what I’ve heard, Royal Oak is the place to live! We are also open to the Berkeley, Ferndale, Birmingham, and south Troy areas as well! We are not from Michigan, so I would love to hear opinions on these areas, where to avoid, and the best rental housing there!

Our budget is around $1650 after utilities (houses or apartments!). We have a border collie, so outdoor space is a huge bonus! Ideally we would like to be somewhere in a very safe neighborhood that we can go for long walks and not be worried. Walking distance to stores and other places to work (for me) would be fantastic as well!
