Top Surface Issues (but only sometimes)
Hi all, hoping some of the bright minds here can tell me what I'm doing wrong and that it's a super easy and obvious fix and I'm just an idiot. I love when it's just me being an idiot. I'll try to provide as much detail as possible but let me know if I've left anything out. Photos linked here.
I have a product (a vase of sorts) that has a high failure rate on it's top surface/last few layers, which is incredibly frustrating, not to mention wasteful of both time and filament. It's about 8 hours and ~250g.
The issue is the area held up by supports tends to curl away from them at the very last second, which leads to the last layer pushing into the nozzle and creating an uneven finish that I cannot for the life of me find way to fix in post-processing to the level necessary to ship out to a customer.
I've tried many variations of support options (including top-distance, tree style, interface layers, you name it), ironing, layer times, wall/infill speeds, pretty much everything under the sun, and this same issue rears it's ugly head seemingly randomly. I have printed this flawlessly many times, but this issue pops up continuously and really throws a wrench in my printing schedules.
Using Bambu Slicer. Bambu PLA (matte and basic, using respective profile), on P1S, P1P, and X2D w/ textured PEI, SuperTack Pro, and BIQU Frostbite (has happened on all). 2 walls, 12% Gyroid infill w/ modifiers on the top section in question for 35% and the base for 50% (model prints on it's side, for reference, these modifiers better distribute the weight so it doesn't wobble). Tree supports are usually default but I tried "strong" in the iteration in the photos. Exact same issue presents while using other tree support variants. Printers are all calibrated, filament is calibrated and dried.
I understand that may look like a stupid way to print this model, and in truth it probably is. I have worked on different variations to split it into parts but have not yet landed on a worthy successor. Anyways, any help is greatly appreciated. And if you're just going to tell me to redesign it to print better...yeah fair enough. BUT, while I'm working on that, it would be great if I'm able to crank out a couple more of these that I have on order. TYIA!
