A Florida Orange Vacation Wagon Queen Family Truckster

National Lampoon Vacation, Written by John Hughes, Fourth Draft (April 30, 1982)

Among the strangest changes in the film vacation starts off right away with the family trucker.

Originally Clark was ordering an Antarctic Blue sports wagon.

Of course the dealer didn’t have that in stock.

Originally Clark was offered Florida Orange Wagon Queen Family Truckster. A fluorescent orange Truckster.

That could’ve been a great car to drive in the film. It would’ve been as funny as metallic pea green.

Second strangest thing is Aunt Edna, who dies in the film.

The script called for Edna to live, coming to life on her nephew’s back porch, still tied up on a chair.

The hidden original ending is much weirder than I ever heard.

Clark forces Roy Wally and several of the Wally company executives to do song and dance numbers from the Wally TV show.

After a few numbers, the cops arrive and the guys want to keep dancing.

Those are the changes in the script had they remained in the film feel it could’ve been OK.
