Mechanical vs Civil for future RV/mobile home park owner

Academic Advice

I’m applying to an engineering program soon and I’m torn between mechanical and civil.

My family owns a 60-acre mobile home/RV park with 600+ lots. About a third are permanent mobile homes and the rest are RV lots with full hookups. We manage almost all of the underground utilities ourselves, and we’ve got a few main structures (pavilion/laundry/bathhouse and a clubhouse/office/pool area).

Last year we partnered with a fiber company to run fiber throughout the property. I was subcontracted for part of the install: I hired and managed a small crew, helped the engineers pick AP pole locations for coverage vs aesthetics, buried ~75 galvanized steel poles (~15 ft), and ran conduit to a chunk of them.

I recently switched my plan from civil to mechanical, but I’m second-guessing it. For someone who will likely take over and improve a mobile home/RV park like this long term, which degree do you think would be more useful: mechanical or civil? A double major is technically possible but I’d really prefer not to.
