Having issues with stuttering and low fps

I've been playing for a while now and im certainly really enjoying its story, but it has come to a point where i cant even play the game. Fps drop even on dialogues and cpu overheats like crazy. I don't know if its an issue on my end or on the game's optimization but i've played more demanding games just fine and i was surprised this game ran so horribly on my laptop. I tried upscaling and turning everything to low settings but nothing changed. Here's my specs: Gtx 1650 ti, 16GB Ram, i5 11400H
