gpu compatibility issues
I used to build and sell PCs a while back so I have left over parts so I was putting PCs together to just get rid of the parts and I was putting together a Low end pc with a i5 4400 and a EVGA GTX 970 and for some reason it just refuses to display, Ive tried an RTX 2060 and a GTX 1660 super and both display fine in the pc.
so I transfered the 970 over to my personal pc with a 7800x3d and it works as normal, it also works in a pc with a ryzen 7 5800x but it refuses to display on pc with an intel cpu, has any one experienced this before?
Ive ruled out bios settings, all hardware works, it's not a thing only with old intel CPUs because it also doesn't work on newer ones.
it seems like it only wants to work in a system with an amd cpu for some reason, I tested a msi 980ti I have in all the same PCs and it works in every single one without issue. Ive tried reflashing the 970s bios to a newer version and the issue still happened.
list of things Ive tried to get the 970 to work
before I figured out it didn't work with any intel board I change the pcie settings in bios to fix it which didn't work and I updated the bios.
then after figuring out it's just the card I did the following and nothing worked.
flashed an updated bios to the evga 970
then flashed the FTW evga bios to the GTX 970 which was stable but the intel issue still happened
tried flashing nvidias display port compatibility firmware
tried flashing an msi gtx 970 vbios to the evga 970 but unfortunately it wasn't stable so re flashed it back.
I honestly don't know what else to do, I don't really want to continue flashing random other brand vbios to it because it can technically brick it even though it is very unlikely since they all use a GM204 board and support all memory brands + the clock speed differences are not too big.
I don't believe its a bios thing with the intel boards as other GPUs even other 900 series GPUs run fine.
any ideas would be great.
