Am I overreacting
I haven't been a plushie girl in a longgg time. I have maybe four total but they still bring me that comforting feeling. I've kept 2 plushies on this bookshelf for maybe five or six months. Out of nowhere my husband decided to rearrange and put my plushies in the outdoor closet in a box. For some reason I didn't notice and didn't put it together that my plushies were gone. I was like cool, it looks nice. I finally noticed and realized he probably put them in the closet. I texted him to ask if he did and then he called me.
I was really upset, super annoyed and anxious that he just did it without asking me. I don't know why but it made me feel really triggered and disrespected. He's never moved anything else of mine in the closet. He used to let our roommate borrow my TV and then he stopped asking. But that was maybe four years ago and I don't hold it against him. He's never borrowed anything else without asking though.
He asked me what I said in the message and then asked me if I was offended. He knows me too well and I can't hide what I'm feeling. I said well kind of, I just wish you would have asked me first. He said why? You didn't ask me if you could put them there. I said no, that's different. He said well it doesn't match the aesthetic and it looks bad there. He hasn't said anything in months so I don't know why he cares now. I just wish he would have said something earlier because I wouldn't care if he told me he doesn't like them there. I again said ok well next time ask me before you put my stuff in the closet. He says I've moved stuff around in the living room before, it wasn't an issue then. He then talks about how he's having a bad day and this conversation made him feel worse. Then he said something in a really passive aggressive way and I said don't be passive aggressive. He says you're the one being passive aggressive trying to argue with me about this!
I feel like we aren't getting anywhere in the conversation so I say okay hope your day gets better, I'll talk to you later. He just hangs up without saying bye. He calls me back and I say look, maybe it's clutter to you but it's comforting to me. Can you just ask me next time? He says okay but he sounds like he's annoyed saying it?
He tells me yeah I was just calling you about the family plans being cancelled, that's all I was calling you about. He didn't seem to have anything else to say. I say ok well I hope your day gets better, I'll talk to you later. He says maybe and hangs up. He texts me I don't know if can do this, this might be my last day. For context he has a very stressful job. I texted him I'm sorry I upset you. I'm not mad, just worried. I couldn't hide my feelings over the phone. Try to eat something. He doesn't respond so I call him. He said I acted like he's already done this three times and we've talk about it before.
Also when I'm telling him my feelings I am speaking in a calm way to try not to trigger him. I just calmly told him don't move my stuff in the outdoor closet.
Now I'm apologizing saying sorry I upset you. I'm sorry I never talked to you about it, I just thought you already knew this. I'm saying sorry I had bad timing, I know you've only done this one time. He keeps saying it's okay. I'm okay, don't worry about me. He sounds a lot calmer and he says thanks for calling. I might post this in a marriage subreddit or something because I know this must sound insane to argue about. Am I being crazy getting so anxious about my plushies being gone? I kind of have OCD tendencies but I didn't expect myself to get upset at all. I thought me being into plushies was kind of a phase but I guess I like them more than I thought.
Also I feel like when me and my husband argue it turns into a huge thing. He acts like I'm overthinking or over reacting and maybe sometimes I am. He tells me why I'm wrong and talks over me or and he will be very passive aggressive, hangs up the phone on me and I'll be at home feeling exhausted and extremely anxious. I'm almost always the person apologizing first because I have bad anxiety when things don't feel comfortable and sometimes he'll say he's sorry back. I feel like most of the blame is on me though.
I used to cry after he gets passive aggressive or if he shuts down but now I'm just feeling the anxiety without crying. I start thinking about maybe I should leave the relationship or maybe I should call someone but I don't want to give up being married. I feel guilty wanting to call someone to talk about the fight because I don't want to betray my husband. As soon as I'm getting ready to call someone or think about going to someone's house to think, we make up and everything is fine again.
Other than these arguments our relationship is very solid. We get a long, make each other laugh all the time and we are very very affectionate with each other. He's very responsible, asks me if I need anything, takes care of the animals and constantly opens the door for me. He does even more than that to show he cares for me. But I feel like during fights he turns into a different person. I start feeling so lucky to be with him for a long time and then we fight..then I kind of get doubts. Thanks if you read this
