I was tired of ugly, bloated scanner apps, so I built a minimalist, local-only PDF scanner with full Material 3 support.
Hey everyone,
I’m a huge fan of clean Android setups, and one thing that always bothered me was how "heavy" and cluttered most document scanner apps feel. They’re usually filled with ads, cloud-sync popups, and outdated designs.
I decided to build AbhiScan—a document scanner designed for people who actually care about their UI. I just launched it, and I’d love to see what this community thinks.
Why it fits a clean setup:
- Material 3 & Midnight Mode: I built it strictly following Material 3 guidelines. It includes a true "Midnight" dark mode that looks incredible on OLED screens.
- 100% Local & Private: No accounts, no cloud, no data leaving your phone. All the edge detection and OCR (text recognition) happen on-device using local ML.
- Lightning Fast: I engineered it to be lightweight. No splash screens, no bloat—just open, scan, and save.
- Searchable PDFs: It uses a local SQLite engine so you can instantly search for any word inside your documents directly from the app.
I’m looking for some "Power User" feedback: As an indie dev, getting traction is tough. If you’re looking for a new utility for your setup, please give it a try. I’m specifically looking for feedback on the UI flow and the scanning precision.
If you like the "local-only" vibe and want to help an indie dev grow, a review on the Play Store would be a massive help!
