How much importance does streams hold for fandoms

Okay fyi one of my groups (not naming them here) have high streams on different platforms but honestly, I don't see the hype about it. Like obviously I'm happy they are up there with other major acts but making it the entire representation of the group is weird (?)

I have seen a bunch of people from my fandom making EVERYTHING about streams or charting. Like good songs WILL chart and there's no doubt about it. I'm not AGAINST streaming but why are you forcing me to stream and saying to "step up my game" - just because I refuse to mass stream while sleeping?

I have a life outside K-pop and though I know my ults maybe would appreciate the charting and streams if they come across it - but I like my ults because their music makes me feel happy, not because I need to keep a tab on their streams, or to outstream "potential rival" groups. Listening to their music - gives me a "break" from my hectic schedule. But when the people from the same fandom (some of them even being my friends) start forcing me to do this and that - they are slowly making the comfort space I had into something which I heavily dislike.

I obviously CANNOT hate my ults like lets bffr - but idk imo Kpop is supposed to be fun. Something you enjoy - not just stream this or that. Like wdym you are telling me to stream a remix version of the song that I don't even like??

I think people have said this before - but I just wanted to put my thoughts out there as someone who recently came back into K-pop after years.

p.s. i'm not an army or blink!! And this post is NOT for starting fanwars or guessing my group!!
