Do I need more storage?

I recently got a MacBook Air (M4, 15", 256GB) as a gift from my mother, but since I joined this sub, I realized that a lot of people dislike the 256GB model. The 512GB model was out of the question because it was $1,500 more expensive where I live.

I mostly use Word, YouTube, a platform to watch online classes or IA to study, Canva and Google Meet to meet with my patients. I also have a gaming computer with two SSD 😅 so is it really necessary to buy an external SSD, especially for future system updates needs on my MacBook, or am I just being dumb and paranoid? Thx
