Does anyone else enjoy drawing, making music, or other creative pursuits, but just can't stand the art community?
Due to my bad experiences with the toxic art community—both online and in person—have led me to keep much of my work hidden, because I don’t want it to be consumed by the many vices that this field often brings with it.
In fact, I don’t even like to consider the things I create as “art” because, among many other things, it’s a concept that, in my experience, is used to defend unpleasant people.
It’s strange, because I see that many testimonies against the community are often censored, and differing opinions are dismissed by this perpetual victim mentality, in which the art world is portrayed as a place of tolerance and respect, where it is always the victim and never the perpetrator.
And I know many people will say to me, "Hey! I'm not like that!" or "My community isn't like that!", and of course I'm not saying that every musician, painter, photographer, etc., is bad. What I'm saying is that we have to acknowledge that, on a large scale, the artistic community tends to have very dogmatic ideas and toxic practices.
And what's with comparing your opinions or ideological stances to determine whether you're a "good artist" or not?
