People who have to play modded

I want to preface this by saying that I am fully aware this is unreasonable, but for some reason it really annoys me when people say they can't enjoy a specific game unless they play it with mods. I want to make it clear that I think modding is an incredible thing and many games would not have the longevity they do if not for people in their communities continuing to make content for them, but the sentiment that a game isn't fun anymore for someone unless they have mods irks me, even in cases where they've played it for years, and I don't know why. To me, if a game is fun enough to keep playing for that long, then I see no reason why you would have to make it "better". I know that it's completely reasonable to get bored of a game and want something new, especially after hundreds or thousands of hours, but because that isn't how my brain works it always irritates me when people express that sentiment.
